Does anyone have these?, what do you think of them?, just ordered a freeform saddle and want safety stirrups, do quite a bit of long distance stuff, do they help with the joints as well as being safe:confused: :D

Yeh I love mine, just been jumping some bigger stuff than I've done for a while (about 20 years in fact!) in them & I haven't lost them yet (despite me jumping about a foot higher than the horse a couple of times today).

I bought mine off a lady on eBay for £ but I've since seen them much cheaper (about £75) at Throstle Nest saddlery near Barnsley. Makes me wonder whether local saddleries might be a good bet for them if you shop about.
ETA: I bought them because I have a slightly bionic knee (held together by a plate & 5 screws) and it doesn't like jumping position very much. I've found that the bendy stirrups really help, it doesn't seem to get as stiff & painful as it used to.

Been using my bow balance stirrups for a couple of months now, bought them after trying out a friends.

They are brill if you do long rides really take a lot of pressure off your ankles and knees, found a little bit strange at first for schooling.

Got my new Freeform saddle last week and decided to get some Barnes Buckles for extra safety, (got professional ones from poohsmate) and found it extremely difficult to get the leathers threaded through the holes in the buckles but managed eventually after a lot of struggling and the help of a spoon handle!

Not sure if holes on the standard Barnes buckles are any bigger??

Thought I'd mention this in case you thought about getting any:)

lor - love the saddle, gave it a good try-out on long distance ride on Sunday.
DP goes really nicely in it.

The Barnes Buckle fits between the stirrup and the leather and releases the stirrup should the rider’s foot become trapped during a fall thus preventing the rider from being dragged.
