I went to view this pony today and possibly thinking of going to see it again and possibly making an offer

http://www.horsequest.co.uk/ad09355.htm

The downside are

1. The pony is not quite so pretty up close tiny legs compared to body and head and neck small compared to body.

2. It is a small 14h and i am a small adult 8st and 5.2 but if i wanted to get an sharer in the future it might be trickly

3. She is quite forward going and although she is ridden in a snaffle and can go quite nicely she does put her head in the air a bit to start off with.

4. She is stronger at shows and could get excitable in new places

The upsides are

1. Good to catch and handle

2. Rode on a busy road and she was fine

3. Has a big jump with plenty of scope though could be hard to steer as fast is still a bit green

4. Has lovely comfortable paces and when she does go on the bit looks lovely also very easy to get going.

5. She has no ailments

I am think if I make an offer of offering £2500, she comes with tack (synthetic saddle) and 3 rugs 2 nz & one light weight turnout. Do you think this is a fair price and if you bought a similar type pony what did you pay?

Also how much would you have expected a 7 year old to have done?

Sounds fair enough to me....
You know how much you want her and that is what counts!

I am no expert, but the downsides you list seem as though they would apply to most horses.

She is really very pretty, but I understand that they have shown jumping pics to emphasise how good she looks whilst jumping.

There are loads of small riders around - she isn't too small at all. 12.2 might have been a problem. Do you think she might carry a small adult slightly heavier than you, amybe up to about 9 stone? Then you shouldn't have any problems getting a sharer - I would LOVE to ride her.

Price sounds ok - is it far off what they were asking?

Best wishes
Anne

Julia will confirm that she is a bit funny looking in person her word were "ugly as sin" :o

I dont know if she could carry a heavier rider her legs are quite spindly! I guess if they were well balanced and a good rider she prob would carry 9 stone.

The asking price is 3250 or near offer. She is quite green still and would prob not be suitable for small child or novice rider but she is very sweet natured and i felt confident riding her. Interestingly they did try to sell her last year but no-one suitable came along all bouncing children and she has been for sale for three weeks and i was the first person to enquire.

as many as getting a sharer goes you prob won't have a prob as i never seem to have a prob getting a sharer for my 13.2hh fairly fine welsh b. i am 10 1/2 stone and my pony is able to carry that quite well even being fairly fine.

As far as being ugly goes, well i don't think she does but with correct work a lot of ponies change shape too. my pony hadn't been worked properly for 6months when i bought her and looks completely different now she has schooling sessions.

if she throws her head up to start then get her teeth checked...a sound inve3stment for £30

she looks a nice sort but it depends what you want her for etc... you can always change her bit when your at a show etc.

A few years back a 7yr ols would have been expected to have done a lot but nowadays people tend to start horses later so there are quite a lot of 7yr old green ponies about. I think £2,000 to £2, 500 including all her stuff is about right.

You obvouisly like her and that is much more important then how a horse looks. whats the point in a dead drop gorgeous showy pony you don't like riding??

Here's my reject anyway...
