Hi everyone
NZ Dressage asked me how Blue was and I thought since today is three weeks since his barbed wire accident I would update everyone.

After many applications of manuka honey, emu oil cream and wound powder, and feeding him pineapple, and extra vitamin C as well as Echinacea and garlic! he has made an amazing recovery.

He is perky and chatty, eating loads of hay, and his wounds are nearly all healed. None are infected and all the swelling is gone. He is a bit bald on one of the bites where a huge scab came off... but other than that - he is good as new.

My YO keeps telling me he looks old - but I don't think so - well is is about 24 we think but I reckon he's looking pretty good don't you. ;)

WOW hes looking great for about 24!! Im so glad to hear that he is getting better!

He looks clean, plump and happy - a bit like myself :D :D

Thanks for the update Vicki. I love hearing about all the alternative therapies that you are willing to try.

Mind you aren't we all when they get ill - as the vets just don't seem to be on the ball at all!

All of your TLC helped with the lack of infection - what a lucky boy.

He looks great! So glad he's made such a good receovery.

Hmn, manuka honey - that's something I miss from NZ :)

What does the pineapple do ?? very hot food, careful it doesnt give him pimples ;)

apparently it has been proven to have this healing enzyme :D just gave him the canned stuff - he liked it alot :)

Glad you all think he looks good - I think YO thinks he looks old because he's hairy - all hers get clipped

Any type of healing apparently - especially wounds

So pleased to hear Blue is back to himself :D He looks very well and contented, not to mention very handsome :D

Try calendula cream if you can find it

Glad you think so Clare - thought I was just biased as you do get with your own horses.... but I have always thought he was a real cutie. Even when I first met him... he's a real toughie that's for sure.

Thank you everyone for thinking about me.... Mum is giving me lots of hay and I have my own paddock now.
