Hello All! Hope you are well!

My RS got a new owner and mangement around 3 years ago and since then they have introduced a range of new things for riders to do. A progressive riding test is one of them.
I didnt know this would help me at all, but it seems it has some significance. I'm a helper at my RS and on the bord in the office they have a list of all the progressive riding tests each one has done.... and next to my name was a big fat zero. :o

I've ridden 10 years, yet there is nothing on paper to varify that so I'm thinking taking a progressive riding test would show that (plus change the big fat zero on the helpers bord ;) ). Before I get myself into this can anyone explain what it involves?
Is there a special dress code? Do you need your own horse? What takes place in a Progressive Riding Test? Is it worth it?

Thankyou everyone! Your replies are much appreciated!

Do you mean the Pony Club progressive riding tests? If you do, this (http://www.pcuk.org/output/take_tests/page_1502.html)link tells you what is involved I think.
At my RS we do our own PRTs in our lessons, it's basically a booklet that the YO made up and each tests states what you have to do to pass that test and get a rossette. At the moment I'm on bronze, which means I've only got 3 more tests (out of ten) to do before I complete the booklet. :D If you want I think I could pm you ssome of the things we have to do for each test, if that would give any idea of what you might need to do ?
Don't know if that helped you at all? lol Probably got the wrong end of the stick.

If you mean the BHS ones then I can really recommend them.

There are now different ones for adults and children the six adult ones leading to exemption from Stage 1. They are run entirely by your own school and with the school horses and no generally you don't need to dress up, although we do some of our higher level ones with a visiting 'examiner' to get people used to the idea in case they want to progress to Stage Exams, so everyone dresses neatly.

The Pony Club and ABRS also have similar systems .

There will be a series of tests in stable management tasks as well as riding. Your school will have copies of the tests they use.

It depends on which test your taking, as well as who is hosting it. If it's your RI that does it, ask them for all the details. I took one test in my life and I rented a horse and there was no dress code.
