this is me and my 6 year old OTTB gelding, big boy, at a jumper show. i've had him for a year, and this season is our first of showing. (my first shows ever, and his firsts ever). this was 2'6". we showed in the 2'6" division, and then did a 2'9"-3' class. he did really well. :)
thanks!

WOWEEE that is a fab pic!
you look good to be honest - there are no set rules really, and your position is ticking all the boxes: non-restrictive
relaxed
off his back and with a giving rein contact, both of which allow him the freedom to jump.
if you ever need to know how effective a rider is, look to her horse as he will tell all. :-D

thats a nice clean jump and your basic position is good.
the only thing i would say is you are up the neck a little too much.
your bum should be further back in the saddle and your hands should reach towards the mouth instead of the ears.
its good to see you looking ahead to the next fence and your back is lovely and flat :)

Hmm, yeah I see what you mean. i think what has happened is, depsite all the positive points already mentioned, your upper body has collapsed and you are relying on the horse's neck for support.
try being lunged over small jumps without your reins and with your arms a) folded and b) sticking horizontally out. this will also improve your balance aswell as loosening your deoendance on your hands and top half, which appear to be 'heavy' in the picture.
