I must've done earlier, because I kept looking down when jumping. Once I started looking up, the course went a lot better. Pony still managed to get out of doing the jump off, but things began to flow.

Any tips for looking up, other than trying to remember "look up"? Like a pin in the collar or something...

When you approach each jump look at something past the jump and don't take your eyes off it. :) I t might help ( not sure as rarely get chance to jump :( )

Yes that is what I do, Just look for something straight ahed and consentrate on it until you are most of the way over the jump, then look for something to look at above the next jump!!:D Hope this help(p.s. if you knock the jump don't look back just keep going)

My RS always tells us to look at something up ahead of the fence, like a tree or gate. Keeping that longer line of vision seems to help a lot, I've only just really started doing it all the time now and I think the horses are jumping better because I'm not looking at the fence and then 'disturbing' their concentration by kind of looking down and 'fixing' things. Hard to explain why, but the looking-at-something-in - the-distance thing really seems to help.
