I don't want to make a complete fool of myself and yes the RI is there to help but I am such a mess at the moment due I think to brain overload trying to get all my body parts in the right position and not fall off.

I feel like its really gone to peices: My issues are these:

:(Don't trust horse to not stop
:(Because of this I work harder than the horse.
:(Using a lot of leg puts me all out of balance
:(Arms flap like bingo wings
:(Fall forward over neck on landing (or worst case onto floor)
:(Am now nervous because it does not "feel" right and flowing

So...good people - what can you suggest please>?

sounds like the main thing you need to do is learn to relax and concentrate at the same time, i think maybe you just need to tell your RI what you have wrote in this thread, you might be like me and just have a lack of self confidence when riding and faith in your horse!

the things you have mensioned there cant really be helped by just telling you how to do it correctly!
just a case of practice makes perfect, but unfortunately it doesnt happen over night!:o

any way im sure your lesson will be great and really help! im always complaining that im not doing stuff right, then people watching just laugh at me and say you were going lovely then stop being stupid!;)

Thanks anna15 yes, though I don't think I am going lovely - I think I maybe need to be videod! Maybe seeing what it looks like might kill or cure me!!!

O and the other thing is my lower leg swinging back which tips me forward even more and unbalances me
Poor horse :(

Stop thinking about so many things. Its really not that complicated to jump a smallish fence. ;)

Just keep one single thought in your mind.....quality of canter, quality of canter, quality of canter.
get that right and everything else will pretty much fall in to place for any fence under 1mtr.

yer im the same my legs go forward though and i feel like im all over the place because of it! but others have told me i look fine, i think its because of my saddle its not very good for my position!

I know - its common sense :o
Stopping myself (or maintaining a quality canter..) well what can I say?
