Carriage Dogs and mini drivers today!

He loves to run along side! Has anyone else got a driving dog?

My son, who is 5 has taken up carriage driving, all the years of being a passenger and now he has been bitten by the bug! This is his mini trnout...

We have a lurcher carriage dog, he's absolutely spot on ( no pun intended)

I would LOVE to take him to the carriage dog trials, he'd win hands down.

The terrier knows what dog carts were made for and she's ain't going to walk, not no how! :D :D

Just out of interest what make is that vehicle?

I was hoping someone would know about a club for carriage dogs, I have heard that there is one somewhere. I have the feeling that it is for Dalmations :rolleyes: only.

My little lad has a foot rest but takes it off because he prefers to be sort of standing, like I do on the dray. I made him a footrest involving chequer plate and D clamps. Despite pestering Bennington they wouldn't come up with one.

The carts are both Benningtons. The spotty pony is in the Funbug and the mini pony has a Bennington mini 2 wheeler which does for 7-10hh (not quite the specification that Bennington advrtise it for, but I can get it balanced nicely for anything within that range!)

This is a bit late but .. they have classes down this way (Hampshire) for Carriage dogs, one is specifically for Dallies, but the other is an 'open' class for any type of dog :)

In that case a little wedge cushion would be ideal - the position he likes with a wee bit more security and comfort. Looking great though! And I like the carriage dog. I am hoping my little one will go that way - she already loves the cart and helps to harness up and knows which bit goes where and she is only 20 months so hopefully by 5 she will be a budding junior whip!

There are a lot of carriage dog trials these days, but they won't let collies compete against the dalmatians, as they don;t want collies coming in ans showing them how it should be done!

my collie cross lab loves coming out in the carriage with us as soon as we get to a field off he gets and runs with us

Oh no I'll have to do a part exchange for my 9wk old collie x puppy, she loves ponies and have great hopes that she'll come out and about with me :)
