View Full Version : Horses can calm the savage mood?

Yesterday morning everything that could go wrong went wrong!
The bank messed up my direct debit for a very important payment and after a lengthy discussion with an impersonal call centre operator, I lost my temper and hung up! Then my hard won new talent of being able to order my groceries on line fell apart and I ended up with 7 bags of cat litter and they hadn't taken off the delivery charge as promised. My mood was going down hill fast.
I decided to work it off and tidy up around my field. Well, as soon as I arrived there, the mood lifted I felt better already...........here was my sanctuary!! I swear the sun came out just at that moment. All was peaceful in my world again. Does everyone feel like that around their horses? I think they do.:)

yes i do!
i dont own my own horse but i find spending time at the stables and even my riding lessons make me forget all about the bad days- work, relationships, money and everything else goes out the window!
its great isnt it.

Mine are more than capable of making a bad day good. It's not so much that I might unload anything on them, they're just so peaceful and happy that it puts everything else into a proper persepective :)

Everything gets a warm soft glow about it when I am at the stables...everything washes away with the onset of complete calm...I stop worrying about everything...it simply brings peace...
sounds corny I know but for an hour I stop juggling everthing else in my life an do something that's just for me..

yes :D I can be in the worst mood imaginable, but the moment I see Pickle I have to smile, everything else goes out my head and I can moan to my hearts content to him, he never asks "are you due on?" when I have a stropp, he never asks if I have unloaded the dishwasher, AND he doesnt measure the dust in the hoover so see if I have used it  though I must admit OH has said if I looked after the house like I looked after my horse he would be a happy man :o
I dont actually think our house is that bad but hey? I am a mear country bumpkin ;) People off NR have seen it and no one ran out screaming or left with a tummy bug? lol
I did take my laptop and see if my friend's (who lives at the yard) wireless internet would reach as far as the barn? then I could quite happily have moved in with Pickle :D , but unfortunately it doesnt :(
;) :D

Yes yES!
I live breathe and even dream work at the moment as its so busy, but as soon as I get to the stable even if its only that once a week, that is quality time where I am so absorbed in something else that work doesn't even cross my mind...and where all the silly things that wind me up - like missing a tube when there is another oned minute behind it...well it just drifts away :)
All last nigt dreaming of network taps...WHY???? And its the strt of my first week off this year.
I think I need it ;)

Yep, the horses definitely calm me down - specially after I've had a particular customer give me a good dressing down (whilst they do this I tend to imagine Joe kicking them where it hurts - haahhaaha). They even placate me when the potty neighbour has done something to annoy me...........!!!

i think i would be locked away if it wasnt for my horse! all problems and worries disappear when i drive onto the yard. the minute i see lizzie i am smiling and relaxed (unless we are riding but i am working on that!). i miss her if i go away and cannot wait to see her when i get back. nothing beats being with my Big Bay Spacehopper!:D

I think i would go insane without my pony. People often ask me, "do you have to go to do the horse every day?", as tho its a chore. I try to explain that i will never tire of spending time at the yard, each and every day for as long as work/home/kids (all be it quite independant kids) will allow. I hate house work or anything domestic, i dont give a stuff about getting new things for the house. I will spend hours grooming, poo picking, moving bales of hay and straw and wheeling barrows of muck and i never get tired of it!. I would quite happily have a caravan at the yard and live there! Thats how good my pone makes me feel:D
OH has got really good about it, it used to be a problem, but now he laughs that there is sometimes straw on the bedroom floor that has fallen off my socks, i do pick that up tho!:p

We love spending time at Foll's Field. Being around the horses and generally pottering about always makes us feel better and lifts the spirits. We tend to have picnics at the field 3-4 times a week in the summer and always on a Sunday no matter what the time of year we find a sheltered spot and grab a quick lunch.

yes I deffently do! I don't own my own horse ither, but when I'm just having a lesson, or working at my rs all my worrys go away.it's just like magic!
even if I am fealing a bit under the wether, have a head ake or something, as soon as I step through the gate of my rs it vanishes!
