Hi guys,
I'm moving to Cardiff soon and was wondering if anyone can recommend me a good school in the area! I don't mind if its a bit out of the city as I have a car!
I just want to go somewhere thats friendly, good teaching and I can get private hr lessons regularly! Friends of mine in Cardiff have found lots of the schools are booked up way in advance.
I would really like to continue to have weekly lessons otherwise all my hardwork up till now will go to waste!
Any ideas?
Thanks

ooooooooooo! i live just outside cardiff.
there's pontcana fields rs in cardiff itself.
My rs -south wales equestrian centre, about 20 mins away.
leige manor- looks quite posh tbh :o also about 20 mins away.
talygarn, a friend of mine goes ther and she loves it, about 30 mintues perhaps.
downs riding school, in penarth just outside cardiff.
ogmore *might do lessons*, they certainly do beach rides, thats about 40 minutes away though.
ummm, i think thats it, ill post again if i remember any more :)
i like my rs, its about £15 for a half hour private, but you can book two lessons together if you want to, or £12 for adult group lesson, the RIs are good.
i would try out a few riding schools and see which one you like best :)

Oh thanks for that Sugarlump (fab name by the way!)
I will write those down and give them a ring, I don't move for a little while yet, haven't found a place to live but I need to get the important things sorted first! he he
Like you say I can try a few, I will definitely try yours as I now have a recommendation (from you) if the RI's are good and I can get regularly lessons I'm happy!
Thanks very much!

Another that hasnt been mentioned is Caerphilly riding school
Thats where I go and I prefer it to Poncanna (sp?) and some of the others in the area.
Its a bit outside Cardiff but well worth the ever so slightly longer drive :)
I think it's £15 for a group lesson
And like £18-23 for a private lesson :D

Hi yeah, Caerphilly Riding School is ace! Their horses are different to your average riding school pony, these ones are more forward going although they do have the odd sluggish pony but majority of them seem to have lots of energy.

Oh have they opened again?? They were closed for ages, and I thought the place was being sold.
I worked at Rockwood Riding Centre for a year, it's just outside Caerphilly as well and comes with a very strong recommendation from me. It's also the cheapest stable in the area.
Cardiff Riding School at Pontcanna Fields is nice, but very expensive, especially the private lessons.
Never rode at Leige Manor, however I once got "caught out" when I was out on a day-long hack with my share horse, and I popped in to ask to use their loo. They gave Kizzy some star treatment and sat me down for a Coke and a chat. Very very friendly.

I'd definately recommend Leige Manor for lessons. I also used to ride at Down side and really enjoyed hacking out in Cosmeston.

Some friends and I had a VERY  bad experience with Downside.
