Hi all, some of you will know me ;).
I've recently started jumping.. can't quite believe i'm typing this! lol
I'm 35 so a little more mature than most.. and praying i don't have brittle bones when i fall! ;) :p
Seriously, I'm after a bit of advice.
I'm no longer a beginner jumper apparantly.. not sure how I managed to fool them into thinking that! :p Have jumped up to 2 foot (huge to me..) straight jumps - what are these called.. err i've forgotten! lol
So.. today I jumped a cob i've never riden before, and jumped him over a 4 jump, but 6 jump course if that makes sense..:o not sure how you phrase that sort of thing.. all cross poles today so nothing too hard. We were working on thinking ahead for next jump, which i don't struggle with too much generally.
I did wonder what you do when jumping a new horse, any tips gratefully received.
First time round - in trot he felt very racey compared to my usual steeds - and it un-nerved me a bit. Usually I'm up for cantering the next rounds, but I trotted all but some of the final round - some what suprising my instructor i think.
I have booked next weeks riding lesson on the same cob so that perhaps next time we jump I'll be a little more settled to his pace and generally being a bit more forward going.
Thanks again for any advice, sorry no pics or vid, no one there supporting my achievements!
