This evening i went out on a hack with my RS and it was FAB.:D:D I've been a bit relucant to go out before but my RI said she'd prefer it if I went out a few times before starting jumping lessons - so off I went. First half of hack was roadwork / lane work down hill and I was so tense - my horses hooves kept slipping:eek: and I felt very insecure - was just thinking "I'm not doing this again" when we went off road and cantered up hills. Big grin. Amazing. Brill. Splendid. (Have you got the drift now?:D) I relaxed and started to enjoy the scenery and kept smiling.... still am...:D:D The RI has said they do hacks on different evenings which have lots more fast stretches. Exciting thought. I have a sneaking suspicion the lessons are going to be on hold for sometime.:D

lucky person and well done!
We NEVER get to hack and if we do its mainly roads with a bit of grass and only trot. I have to book hols to get some canter/gallop.
Up at Poppleton down the road tomorrow..cor wish I was around long enough to get some riding in
I LOVE Yorkshire :D

Welcome to the Paradise of happy hacking. No rosettes. No congratulations. It is its own reward. And your cantering will get better and better.

Its great isnt it, canterring on a hack, I much prefer it to the school, no corners to think about!!
Lots more fun hacking ahead for you then :D

Ooooh Congratulations. I do alot more work out of lessons sometimes than in school. Seems to be more interesting for Tyler on a hack. It is such a good feeling when it is warm, sunny and you are cantering along with gorgeous scenery.
Hope you enjoy all your hacks in the future :D

well done!
hacking rules doesnt it!!
I'd much rather hack than school - your making me want to go out now, but unfortunatly its my sharers day today and I've got work to go to!
Still tomorow is my afternoon of freedom so might need to go for a roam!!
Hope your future hacks are as good as your first one was!

yay congratulations!
i much prefer being either on a hack or in the field. it's much more relaxing; however i do find myself concentrating more because it's me who has to control the horse (does anyone else feel like the RI is riding for them sometimes?)
contradictory i know!

Congratulations :D
I prefer hacking to school work as the school work shows up my lack of precision, balance and concentration.
I hope you continue to enjoy the hacks but my advice (which I fail miserably at!) is to alternate between hacking and schooling so your riding abilities don't stall. :)

totally agree, horse riding is all about hacks too. I had one about 2 months ago, and ooohhhhhhhhh I so enjoyed it, it was on the country road, but it was so nice, so relaxing, although the horse I was on was a napping horse, and i managed to get some trot out of him with my teacher help. Wow
Hacks are the best, cant wait for my next one:D
