Hi, I was wondering if you thought my horse is a good hunetr. Like if he could win rated shows, etc. He is always in the ribbons in Hunter classes, adn does especially well in Over fences classes. Wins atleast 1 first mostly at a show.

Here are some videos, and pictures.

I can't tell from the photso! Best way to answer the question is with a question.... Does he give the impression of being up to a full days hunting?

One good trend I have noticed in hunter classes over the last few years is the move away from ornamental hunters that are just for the show ring. These days the ones that do well are the ones that are up to the job! At several shows this year I was delighted to see fit, muscled up horses scars, splints and all, ie WORKING ANIMALS placed above the 'hunters' who looked incapable of lasting half a day, if they ever set foot on the field.:D

Alfies-slave ... I'd hazzard a guess that the OP is a US poster ? 'Hunters' is a show discipline in its own right over here and has just about nothing to do with real live actual hunting. Hunter people here would be walking round dumbfounded at the idea of taking a hunter hunting ... what are you thinking

mokiegal180, if you are talking about the US east coast or CA 'hunter' A shows, then your best bet for a critique wold be one of the US based boards COTH is the main one where the big guys seem to hang out.

"Chronicles Of The Horse" - it's a very US based board, and seems like quite a few posters are actively showing in FL, VA and CA so would really know what to look for, for the A shows. I only do local schooling shows and even then it's just Tennessee, so can't advise on what's really the form for hunters this year.
