I have just been looking into various career paths and wondered if anyone could tell me about the ways of becoming an Equine Bowen Therapist?

Poohsmate is a Bowen Therapist. I'm sure that he'd be able to give you the info and which schools to go for :)
In the meantime here are some links:

I was thinking about doing it at one point so did a bit of research. The main thing that I found was that you had to do both human and equine bowen (though you could do the human without the equine but not vice versa) and the majority of them required you to have a qualification in human and equine physiology if you wanted to do both.
All the best, it's a great thing to have under your belt especially if you can treat the humans and the horses :)

im doing it :D:D
The horse course starts in January 2008 :D:D:D i am sending my application asap!!
You have to do the first stage (or it could be the first 2 ) in Human Bowen before you can start the horse course.
To get on the Bowen human course you have to have an anatomy & physiology qualification. :)
Human Bowen starts in Edinburgh on 23rd June. Paula Esson.
The website has all the info and you can download the prospectus.

Thanks guys :) It's just something I'm interested in and I'm just looking at careers I could go on to do. I am doing a degree in animal biology just now (just finished my 2nd year) so I still have 2 years to go with that and we did do a module this year on animal & human physiology. I also did a year and a half of psychology, though don't know if that counts for much! I don't know if I'd need to get a qualification that is more human based? It's great that it is in Edinburgh, I thought that i'd have to go down to England for it.

Ah I see :) Just out of curiostiy, what other qualifications do you have Jenni? Despite now being almost 21, I've always had no clue about what I want to do as a career and this is actually the first thing I have thought about that I've got quite excited about :)

im 25 and its only now i know what i want to do.:D
I have standard grades and 3 highers.
I just passed my ITEC Holistic Massage Therapy diploma. This included an Anatomy & Physiology diploma (its for humans though)
I want to eventually do both Equine Sports Massage and Equine Bowen Therapy.
I had originally just thought about Equine Massage Therapy and the course i wanted to do (ITEC with Mary Bromiley) required a human massage and A&P qualification .
So i found out about doing that and did it with The Edinburgh Therapy Academy. It took 6 months for the course.
I know i want to do complementary therapy now. I get quite excited about the change you can make to someones life from something as simple as a massage. Mentally and physically change their lives. Its quite surreal at times.
I want to work with horses and i have done the working on a yard thing but i know its helping animals feel better that i want to do.
You do become quite passionate about complementary therapy once you start to get involved with them and see the difference they can make. And the thought of being able to make those changes to a horses life makes me feel even more passionate about becoming an equine therapist.
You could always try to find an equine therapist and ask them if you could spend a day with them to see what they do.
i am giving myself 5 years to eventually be doing what i want to do. Age shouldnt matter, if it takes you 10 years to find out your vocation then thats great. Some people never do a job they enjoy and spend their entire life thinking 'i wish' or 'what if'. At least if you try it out and it doesnt work then you know you can move onto the next thing.
Good luck :D
