Does anyone take lessons at a RS in Derbyshire or the surrounding areas (Stafffordshire\Nottinghamshire etc)? if so where do you go and what do you think?. You can always PM me if you prefer.

I go to Barleyfields at the moment and i really like the horses and instructors but its getting hard to book lessons at suitable times for me because they are having lots of shows\parties at the moment. I was just looking for other good RS that i could try. :D

In particular does anyone have any experience of Hargate or the Scropton schools (i think they have two)?

Thanks.

I would ask one of the instructors, most of them at Barleyfields are freelancers who also teach elsewhere. Of the ones you mentioned I suspect Holme Farm is the best.

I go to Barleyfields :D
Used to work there aswell! Small world :)
Never been to any other apart from Ridgewood which is in the Belper/Alderwasley area. Not as good as Barleyfields though!
Now i have the money, I must go back for some more lessons :D

BUMP!

The Holme Farm RS is fully booked for the evening slots with regulars so no go there. The man didn't seem too friendly anyway.

Ok anyone have any experience with Elvaston Castle RS? i went to try and find it yesterday. Is it the one in the grounds of the castle? i saw a faded sign but wasn't too convinced that was the RS. Didnt see many horses.

And how about the RS at Findern?

Thank you.

Knowle Hill is 5 mins from where I keep Bryony, I'm not sure what its like personally although I do know someone who has rode there.

If your considering coming to Ticknall why not travel the extra 5 mins and go to emls (ivanhoe equestrian) coz I can really recommend that one. Eml also does horse ownership courses which are great if you are thinking about getting your own. They include theory work and practical where you get to play with the horses.:D

hey
I ride at Holme farm and the man is actually very nice, they care alot about the horses and do only whats best for the horses.

The rs at findern is a no go, unless you are small. The biggest riding school horse is 14.2hh and the rest (there are only about 10) are ranging from 11hh - 14hh. It is ok there, but i wouldnt risk it, the teacher isnt very good either!

Sorry i meant no offence - the person i spoke to on the phone was very short with me. I might of caught him at a bad time. I have heard good things about Holme farm so i have no doubts its a good RS but unfortunatley there is no room there at the moment. :)
