Dont know if this is the right place for this thread! In your experience does colour shampoo, for example for black horses work?

Well, the gallop whitening shampoo I use works, and makes my grey pony, who is usually mud coloured  sparkly white! I haven't ever used any other colour shampoos though, so I supposed I'm not much help!

Yeah white shampoos are great! Washing powder also works very well for there tails! LOL I had 4 horses at one time so I know all the tricks for them, I was wondering more, does a black shampoo make a dark horse darker?

I don't know about horse shampoos for different colours, but I can tell you some products that really work beautifully on black manes and tails. I need to kinda phrase it a bit carefully ... but if you look in the 'ethnic haircare' section of a big store like Wal-Mart, you will find no end of really good products for very dark, thick hair - including leave-in conditioning oils, and all-day shine products. These are fantastic for de-tangling, shining and protecting manes and tails - look for the ones with sunscreen in particular.

I got a black one for my black mare. Mekes her clean and she always looks blacker without the dust! But im not sure the shampoo darkened her, just cleaned her.

Thanks for that!! I have a very dark brown horse, his coat his black with dark brown around his flank and has dapples and around his muzzle its a caramel colour, it would be interesting to see if a colour shampoo would bring out his dapples but keep the rest of his coat dark.
