Im from Sheffield, and considering buting the Equissage kit, to treat my horse and maybe treat others.
But, does anyone think its worth buying, or think that they would consider having their horse treated? It massage's them, gets there blood circulation going, helps drain lymphatic fluid, releases tension, works all way through the horse AND RIDER. Please let me know what you think, or if you'd like to try it with your horse?!

tried it, loved it! one of the girls at college had one this year and she let me use it on star, he wasn't too keen on it at first but after using it a few times he used to doze off with it on he was so relaxed, and he became more flexible too in his schooling. It's definitely something on my wishlist for the future!

Mine's had that treatment too, she loved it after the initial "get that thing away from me now" reaction. It made her much less stiff too.

My friend bought 1 about 6 weeks ago and the results show for themselves. She has a few jumping horses and they are much more supple, another horse had hurt its back and hock and couldnt turn in a tight circle without falling over. 10 sessions and it could turn in a tight as circle as u like. Ive used it on my mare as she has a problem with her back at the mo and has had since april and I would say its helping her.
My friend is now getting another unit and she has offered it to me to use. She will get me the training to use it on horses and then I can go out and use it on peoples horses either under veterinary care or on my own - I cant wait! I am definitely a fan as are the horses..! :D

My horses love it, but I wouldn't personally go out and use it on others, and especially not for money. I'm not comfortable with saying to people "oh, your horse has x, this will help". I'm not willing to be sued if said horse then takes a turn for the worse. It's all very well for Equissage themselves to come out and do demos, but there is a company and, I would assume, insurance policies behind them.
Without adequate liability insurance, my use of it is on my own animals and occasional treatments on friends horses if they think it would be beneficial.
Having said that, it keeps my horse happily pottering about - the alternative treatment to maintain that is physio visits on a very frequent basis. The ponies don't need it as such, but they love falling asleep during treatments :D

I've looked up Equissage, but can only find the hands on massage technique website, and I gather that you are talking about some sort of gadget? OR have I got it completely wrong.
I've heard of the photonic torch thingy.
Can someone enlighten me please.

Estimate somewhere around £2,000 to get the back pad, hand unit and tendon boot. Not sure of the exact price, but that's probably not too far off :)

Zingy I would never be going out telling people oh this is what is wrong with your horse, it is purely if people are interested in it and exactly as you said about liveries with you - if they think it would be beneficial..
Our equine vet is very impressed with the results it has shown on some of the horses he has been treating and as company say its not anything dodgy purely massage.
The horses definitely love it they all fall asleep everytime!

I know what you mean, but when I bought mine (admittedly a good few years ago). Equissage basically said to go out and treat other peoples horses - get them to pay and I'd be able to recoup a lot of the cost. Fine, but what if something goes wrong and I have no liability insurance for treating other peoples horses? Didn't mean to suggest you'd go out diagnosing stuff, but unless you're working in line with a vet, it's sometimes very difficult to know what you're dealing with. And an unknown (to you) owner may just turn round and blame you if it isn't a miracle cure or finds out after a vet diagnosis that it isn't something that it should have been used on.
It's not dodgy and a lot of people seeing the results are very impressed. But interestingly, when I last had a chiro out and mentioned using it, I was told categorically that they didn't recommend its use in certain circumstances that Equissage do recommend - they had studied its use and found in some circumstances their belief was that it can do more harm than good.
Hence my reasoning for being very, very wary :)

Ive work on a couple of showjumping yards and they both had the roller. We used to put on the horses b4 and after they jumped at shows. The horses used to love it!

imo..i prefer the old fashioned way a good firm grooming to bond with and relax my horse and correct exercise to build mucsle.xx these machines may help correct problems but i'd rather have a professional equine ciro/massage team help and their more precise equiptmen and knowlegde. xx

I got one 2nd hand. Like martingale said, grooming/bonding and professionals are a must! I pop mine on while i groom etc but am considering getting physio out as he seems a little tense. I got it for the sake of getting it tbh and not for a specific reason. Its mine and my aunties and we charge £10 for 20min use, but just on our yards as the travelling would be rediculus!!!
