As an anniversary present, I want to treat J to a new saddlecloth/numnah. Nuumeds were reccomended by the saddle co fitter... any opinions on them?
Also do i go for a cloth or a numnah? Is there really any difference apart from looks? Would a numnah keep him cooler through summer?
Thanks :)
ETA - Are the sizes fairly generous? being such a big lad, even the large things can look a bit silly on him. Saddle is 17.5. Would a numnah look less silly than a cloth?!

I use them, they wash great and I think the sizes are pretty standard, fits under for 17" saddle fine.
Colours are a bit boring though

i certainly thing they are good, i tend to use the saddle shaped numnahs most of time, but would use a square for dressage.
i don't use a square as an everyday cloth as they cover a large area of the horses back and can prevent proper heat dissappation, especially if your doing alot of hard work.:D

I'm not sure J knows what that is!!!

we use them on our high-withered boy, love them - we were recommended to use extra large for our 18" saddles, and have found that to be good advice. (This applies to GP and dressage saddles) We thought the dressage square looked a bit big, but the numnahs definitely need extra large

Love them.
I used their half sheepskin numnahs under my treeless saddle, always washed up like new and wore well. Now I've got the plan cotton hi-wither ones under my Saddle Co, and again am really pleased.
I've only ever had the shaped numnahs, don't tend to bother with saddle cloths for the reasons Poohsmate has written.

my saddle fitter recommended hi wither numnahs always whether your horse has high withers or not.
I've just bought one and my horse seems to like it. they're not cheap though.

I'm interested in those Nuumed hi wither numnahs as well, although I haven't got on yet (so can't comment). Just another question:
What type has everybody got, the wool lined one or the half wool lined one or just the plain quilted one? And why did they decided on whichever one they got?
Thanks,
Lana

Any ideas on what the sizes are like?
ride away says the extra large is for 18"+ saddles. my saddle is 17.5 but my hoss is a big lad and things can look a bit silly on him if theyre on the smaller size.

I've got L size under my 17" saddle and it's a nice neat fit. The L would certainly fit a 17.5", it just depends whether you want a very close fit or you prefer to have a bit of numnah showing, in which case you might be best with an X-L.
