Following my fab first hack I'm now hacking out every week as well as a having a lesson and today came across a number of firsts...
1) A mini spook - trotting happily along when my horse suddenly stops, cat leaps to the side, and rocketed off to the other side of the road very fast (oddly this all seemed to happen at the same time) what caused this? a fearsome crushed plastic bottle on the road. luckily it was very short and he stopped when he was a safe distance from the monster.
2) The paths were very muddy today and my horse happily trotted through small puddles, walked bravely through a fast following stream but then had to tiptoe sloooowly around the very edge of large puddles. Why?
3) Tried cantering in two-point (or is it forward seat? the position where you're butt is off the saddle!) and managed not to resemble a jelly. Whoo hoo.
I then managed to untack by myself (first time I've actually managed to undo a girth without yelling for help due to weediness).
Had fun made even more interesting by a few facefuls of hawthorn, gollops of mud ending up where they shouldn't and a very busy bull and cow. Wasn't expecting that.:D
