Hey guys. Jae here. We're looking around the southwest U.S.A. for a second horse, since my boy doesn't seem to be holding up too well to the eventing life (which isn't that surprising since he was malnutritioned when we got him and he's 16 now), so we're looking for a younger horse.
Came across this adorable 5 year old QH mare. She's about 15hh, and she's a buckskin overo. What gorgeous coloring!! Trained w/western saddle, and she's learning how to neck rein, and her mommy was a jumper, and she's considered an amazing english prospect.
I'm an eventer that loves to go on trail rides in the mountains at least once a month, so the western mountain experience she has is GOOD!! Posting some pics with this...so what do you think? She's priced at 2500 U.S. dollars. Oh, and her name is Chinook.

Bump... Lots of views, but no comments? Anything on her conformation, or advice on how to switch her over from western to english? :p I could use a couple hints on that.

Love her colouring especially her dark legs. :)
I'm not experienced with conformation I'm afraid.
Out of interest as I'm moving to the US shortly, what kind of saddle is that she has on? obvously western but I haven't seen one like it before
Good luck if you decide to go and view her:)

I need help for the same kind of thing, how to change from Aussie stock with Western mixed in to English. I would be very interested to see, what answer's you get.

I don't know exactly what to tell you.
Is she cute? Definitely.
Is she an amazing english prospect? No. I mean she might turn out to be fantastic at english, but her build and breeding screams western
If you want to be an eventer, get a horse that is at least trained in some jumping, or at the very least english.

CurlyCal: Yes, it's a western saddle, but there are different kinds: barrel racing, stock-cattle, trail, and pleasure. There are just little differences between them, but I don't have a good enough view to tell you exactly what kind of saddle it is. :P
Pilgrims5: I know what you mean. I'm also trying to get my TB to do some western pleasure, but he's done english during all of his sixteen years of living. He's picking it up, slowly but surely.
StormArion: I've ridden plenty of QH, stocky-built horses in eventing, and as long as they know their aids, and aren't afraid of the jumps, they're amazing, especially with their laidback dispositions. With some, after they're done with their xc I untack them, brush them off, and take them back up to watch some of the other horses while walking around on them bareback. Not saying ALL QHs are like that, definitely, but this one is. I suppose QHs are talented at engaging their hindend, which is why they're so good at western events, but turn that into english-pros, they can kick in those powerful little hips of theirs and pop over jumps.:) Although, you're right, QHs all scream WESTERN!! Issue with Chinook: She's not competitive enough for barrels or polebending. Owner says she's more suited for dressage, penning, 4-H, trails, and show jumping.
