As of Monday I start sharing Megan for 4 days each week! :D
She's a 13yr old fleabitten grey IDxTB ..... who took heavily from the ID side ....lol :)
Now then - anybody got any suggestions for what I do on Monday? I think I'm going to play it safe and ride in the school, which I've never done without an instructor telling me what to do :p I'm not sure I can think what to do without one :p
Must arrange some lessons asap.... :)

Ooooh, how thrilling! Well, you'll soon get the hang of schooling without teacher being there! Tho I admit it did feel weird for me at first!!! Perhaps you could just do some circuits in walk and trot and figures of eight in walk and trot? How is her canter? If you're feeling really confident then go for it! Good luck and enjoy!

Glad you got your share. I'd start off just getting to know each other, doing transitions and circles etc.
I hope we get pics soon!

Good luck Wobblydeb! Hope it goes really well :D Why not think of a mini "lesson plan" before you go in? Like, walk round once on both reins, then a 20m circle followed by a change of rein B-E, and so on... or whatever! That way you'll have a sense of purpose, and also not feel so awkward if anyone else is around watching (I've been in this situation believe me!!)
Looking forward to pics and updates :D

Congratulations.
A good old groom and then 15mins in the school after preparing a lesson like Est suggested will be plenty for your first day together.
Should leave you ending on a high and both wanting more!
Best of luck.

Yay - congratulations. :D All that finger crossing worked.
You could always treat yourself to a new book to celebrate that will help you plan your schooling sessions. A list of suggestions on the link, or your local bookshop should be able to help.
101 Schooling Excercises is a good one and I would think 100 Ways to School Your Horse would be useful as Susan McBane usually writes good sense.

Otherwise, echo what others have said just keep it fairly simple to start with, while you get used to each other. Walk, trot, transitions, circles, sepentines and loops and maybe a short canter if you are feeling confident. Don't be so overwhelmed you forget to change rein occassionaly and just ride round and round on the track.
I'm not saying you were going to do that, but I have seen it done and then heard them moan afterwards that riding has suddenly got boring:rolleyes:
