Just looking through Ride-Away Catalogue...

Could not think for the life of me how the reins go in your hand even having used one years ago....

Snaffle rein is held below the curb yes? So a more prominent action.

Seeing I ride in a scrawbrigg this is only to let me know if I am right!!

yes, when you get on you should take up the snaffle reins as normal then pick up the curb reins

There are different ways depending on what you're comfortable with.

I prefer the snaffle under my little finger, the curb between my little and ring finger though some people use other combinations :)

Experiment! There are lots of ways you can do it, see what is comfortable and allows you to use each rein individually in a controlled way! It's a matter of personal preference really. :D

I keep my snaffle above my curb generally. I don't use the curb, it's just for show, and I find doing it that way makes it easier to keep the curb rein slack whilst maintaining a light contact on the snaffle.

Like others say, you can hold the reins however you want really. I favor the snaffle being held conventionally and the curb one above. What really annoys me is when you see people riding with doubles with the curb being used instead of the snaffle. Poor horse!
