I have an interview coming up to do National Diploma in Horse Management at Bishop Burton (I hope it goes well!:))
What is the place like?
Are the staff good?
What was the course like?
Is there oppurtunities to compete on college horses or loan a horse? (wont be taking any horses with me)
Is the course more practical or theory?
Quite like the sound of the place but would like some opinions of those who been there or done the diploma there....
Thanks for reading :)

Hey Hal hope your ok! I went to Bishop Burton last year and it was fantasic, it was the best year of my life and it some ways i regret leaving.
The Staff are fantasic they are always on hand to listen to any problems that you have horsey or not.
The ND course is good and very interesting I loved doing science as you get to disect hearts and stuff!
I the second year you get to choose between Jumping or Therpy and Rehablitation.
There are ShowJumping and Dressage compertitions on a Thursday night and you can get a chance to ride a horse that you have already ridden in lessons.
You can also take a horse home for the summer or winter.
The course is both Theory and Pratical but I'd say its more pratical as you are on the yard more.
Hope I've answered some of your questions :) If you want to know more feel free to PM me.

i was going to go down to Bishop Burton to do my degree but instead stuck to doing a degree in History! I had my interview and the staff were lovely. I got to ride a lovely 15hh cobby sort and a fiesty 17hh TB who were both absolutely fantastic! You'll have a ball and don't worry about the interview, the staff really put you at ease! :D

What is the place like?
I didn't like BBC i hated living there. The place itself is in a lovely situated area although not a lot of things to do outside of college unless you caught the bus. There were disco's thursday night, which i'm not keen on anyways but there's always other activities. Unlike Tracey who was my room mate :p i don't regret leaving and feel much better about the situation.
Are the staff good?
I'd like the staff a good bunch of people :)
What was the course like?
Loved the course and i'm doing it again but at Askham Bryan
Is there oppurtunities to compete on college horses or loan a horse? (wont be taking any horses with me)
As above you can loan out horse's during the term breaks and there's usually SJ and dressage, which you can go in.
Is the course more practical or theory?
More practical i'd same with yard work once a week and lessons, and practising what you've learnt in theory to practice.

Hiya,
Im on the ND course at the moment and plan to go on to the Degree course.
You'll have a yard day set for you in which you have to be on yard mucking out at 7am. this is an all day but if your their and have a good attendance thats allready a gd mark in horse husbandry.
you have four equitation lessons a week which consists of one lungeing, one jumping and two flatwork lessons. All on different horses though if your on friendly terms, the yard staff will let you pick. (be warned, they are softies but get on their bad side and they'll give you the opposite horse to the one you want!)
I personally love it and can't wait to go back.
Anyone going will see HAZEL & RIFF RAFF!!!!! they go there on working livery. If you dont see them you'll most likely hear one if the others out for a lesson (bad seperation anxiety!)
Here's riffy in the arena and hazel dressed up for one of their shows
