my mare is 21, she has arthritis in the front not back (she has broken knees)
one day i was lunging her and with one of her hind legs every now and then instead of going flat down she put the front and of course stacked it, then she was OK few more circles and she did it again, she didn't seem stiff, could it be the locking of some joint?? or laziness bit weird if it was!!!??

few days later thought i would go into jumping paddock for a change, she was fantastic we did trotting poles jumps evrything not a problem, not had a problem since but what was wrong that day???

what do you mean by 'stacked it' I've not heard that phrase before

it's just when your legs gives away, which it would if you stood on the front of your foot, same with horses but with hooves

it is probably the joint locking - my ankle does that sometimes and other times its fine.

either that or she could just be unbalanced, my younsgter sometimes does that with her near fore.

if she was fine afterwards I wouldn't worry too much about it, just keep an eye on it.
