Or similar. This was mentioned on the foal area thread. I think a lot of NR's could find it useful

:)

This has been mentioned before, unfortunately it hasn't got off the ground, I have to surf around for info on younger horses and peoples experiences, I for one would be a more frequent visitor to the site.

Yes I agree that this would be a great area. However as there always will be a warning:rolleyes: everyone will have to be careful that they offer constructive advice/ideas and not say only their way is right.
But yes I would visit this a lot.

Sometimes though topics might be in the grey area e.g could be in this one or General. :)

Ladyknight,
you are correct in what you say, then again the same can be said of all forums, which I belive is why they are moderated, but even someones opinion can be informative if expressed in the correct manor..........but lets hope the powers that be are reading and considering:D

I would be interested in this. Picking up a 2 year old later today. Have owned thoroughbreds and Arabs, ridden all sorts but never had a youngster before and although I can go on general forums would be nice to post what I am doing and get peoples opinions. Don't see any difficulties, its nice to hear how other people do things. You do not have to take their advice.

My thoughts are listen to all and use what you find the most useful or successful!!!!!!

OOh yes please:D as stated in another thread about foals I have to learn about them pretty quickly so would love a section purely for this!!

As with other threads I read them all and take out the advice I think fits me! I dont think any one person is right or wrong, each horse is different what works for one doesn't always work for another;)

The only time i'd argue is if i thought cruelty etc was involved!

One of the only ideas for a new section that I think would be great.

I think too many sections makes the site difficult to navigate but this one is well worth adding imho...and no, I don't have a youngster but would learn a lot from it :)

We have 3 of this years sports foals - we could do a video diary, if anyone wanted to watch the progress and techniques we use

Stop grovelling. No infact keep grovelling I think I like to see you grovel :P

I'll pass it over to Mike and the other mods and see what they think. Problem is we cant cater for everyone and there is always more people wanting different things and that makes it harder for us

*Gets down on knees*

Plllllleeeeeeaaaaaaassssssseeeeeeeee Miriam :D

But this will cater for people with foals, people putting their mares in foal, people with yearlings, people with youngsters, people backing their horses, people schooling young horses, people thinking about buying a young horse, people having difficulty with their youngsters.

See all the people it could help :p

On a serious note, cheers miriam :D

How about a sub forum in the training of the horse bit?

I think it would be a fantastic idea.I'm another member who has just brought their first youngster. He hasn't had much handling and is already 3 years old and although I have backed youngsters before it has been under the guidance of the YO whereas now I am in my own place and will not have the benefit of someone with years of experience to help me. I'd definately welcome the idea of a specific forum just for people going through the same experiences as me and we would be able to help each other out more easily than having to trawl through hundreds of posts trying to find the answers.

I was thinking this the other day. I had a question on handling foaly but couldn't see anywhere to put it. Did think about putting it in training of horse but didnt seem to fit. A sub forum in there would be brill :)

Excellent idea - although i have had horses for years never had a foal before at least not unsupervised and have a shetland foal coming to live with me in about 2 weeks time:D
