You can find out more information in the 'Education' section of the BHS website - found here. (http://www.bhs.org.uk/content/Ods-More.asp?id=1800&pg=Education&spg=Information&area=2)
There is a link to the syllabus which tells you what you'll need to be able to know/do for the exam.
When you say enrol, do you mean enter the exam? You do this by filling in the application form on the page I've linked ^.
If you mean enrol on a course, you do this through the centre at which you wish to train. There's a list on the BHS site of where to train.
Hope this helps!
eta - You don't HAVE to train at a centre, you can enter the exam without formal training, though most people will say that this is inadvisable!

It really depends why you want to do the exam...it is not a cheap route to go down and really only worth it if you are going to progress to the higher levels otherwise there are cheaper options in tests.
First step I recommend is to go to a Training Centre for an assessment lesson.
A freind of mine who is an Examiner has had Stage 1 candidates who could not do a rising trot ...what a waste of money!

Agreed, they're certainly not the cheap option and certainly not something you want to go into if you're not prepared... I was really nervous for mine and I think my trainer's fantastic, I don't think I could have got much better preparation. :D
