I am writing to give you some information about TREC in Scotland and also let you know about some events coming up that you might be interested in
I have also tried to give answers to some of the most common Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) we have been asked.
Links are also attached to some TREC websites that you should add to your favourites to keep in touch with what's going on in the 'Treccie' World.
1. TREC in ScotlandBHS TREC is a unique equestrian sport based on the French discipline "Le Trec". Introduced to this country by the British Horse Society in 1998, BHS TREC appeals to a variety of riders with all kinds of horses and ponies. The BHS is the national governing body for the sport in the UK, regulating competitions, supporting organisers, training judges and officials, and organising Championship events for riders at all levels.
In Scotland TREC is supported by the Scottish TREC Advisory Group (STAG).
STAG's main goal is to increase the take-up of TREC in Scotland, by organising training, competitions and liaising with the BHS about the growth and development of the sport in Scotland. One of STAGs current key activities is organising the TREC Scottish Championships being held at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre in West Lothian, on 21st and 22nd July.
2. What's coming up in Scotland?
There are a few things going on in the next few months, with lots more planned for through the winter. Our goal is to get lots of training and smaller competitions underway, to get more people on board and next spring / summer we will have a large selection of activities.
21st & 22nd July - TREC Scottish Championships OK, you might not be competing (this year!), but this is great chance to come and see what it is all about! We also always need lots of help across the weekend, so why not get involved! You will be fully briefed and if judging will be paired with an experienced TREC judge.
If you are interested, let me know!
