My pony has an allergy to rain?! If he gets wet whilst turned out he can (but not always) get very itchy. This can start up to a week after he has been wet. It does not always happen. Others on the yard have looked at him and assure me that he has sweet itch?

Anyone heard of this before or have experience of it? He is a hardy native by the way.

Midges tend to like damp weather, so there may be a connection. If he had full blown sweet itch I think you'd know about it; it could be a similar reaction but a milder form.

Horses can get itchy for a variety of reasons, so it's always worth getting your vet to have a look if you're at all worried.

You might want to try, aong other tings, giving him a bath with an iodine-based shampoo after he's been out in the rain or otherwise wet. And make sure you thoroughly scrap dry (I love those windshield-wiper sweatscapers).

On the other hand, he might just have a funny coat and dry itchy. You could try just grooming him really well while he's drying or right after he dries to settle his coat, and see if that helps.
