Am I the only sad old person who still lives in the past and hasn't tried mane/tail conditioner before?

I bought some Canter stuff the other day and I've just done Frank's mane & tail with it. Couldn't believe it! It took me about 10 mins. to brush through the tangles and now he looks like a fairy! (If you'd seen Frank you'd understand what I mean - he's got *masses* of coarse hair.) I've never known anything like it. Why didn't someone tell me about this stuff years ago???

It is brilliant stuff! My two have generous tails and canter keeps them both under control. Just don't use it on manes within 24 hours of riding. Your reins turn into glass.

Aha! So that's what it was!!!!!!!!!!
(Only joking. I did realise, but alas too late...)

Elle - not bad, £5 something, but you don't need much & Heather's Debbie says one application lasts for ages.

Intouch - yes, I know! But I'm willing to suffer.

i love the canter mane and tail conditioner too! works wonders on Rio and even Cassey (welsh D with a massive tail)! the way i get round the horrible feeling left on your hands is to wear throw away latex cleaning gloves! you can buy a box cheaply and if your carefule they be re used a few times before having to move onto a new pair! i buy boxes of 20 for ease! hope that helps!

One hour without Canter! It can take me an hour to do Moss properly with Canter!! One Highland with a very generous mane and tail. Connie's tail is her crowning glory, bright red and very thick. Luckily she loves having her hair done! Her mane is pulled which helps immensely.

Given that I can't manage my own mane wthout lots of help from conditioner (it's only about as long as Kat's tail...) I'd never try the coarser, stronger horsey manes & tails without some help :) I've been using baby oil on their tails to help keep them nice & clean & easy to brush.

Someone mentioned that keeping baby oil on stockings will help them stay whiter, so I groom & clean, then squirt legs and tail with baby oil in a squirt bottle. Working very nicely so far--but my girls are bay. I dunno if the baby oil would grab & hold dirt in lighter colored tails. Doesn't seem to hurt the pony, and she's...um...well, her mane and tail are white. (I'm really not sure what color she is. I thought maybe she was palamino, with a yellowish body, white mane/tail. But she shed out for the summer and her summer coat is dark grey! --and not to mention she's got a dorsal stripe. Very confusing :) )

For the thin TB manes & tails, we don'tneed anything too powerful and about anything will do. But I dread thinking about the thick ones! :) Show Sheen is your friend.

alison and rio-

mines a welsh D as well, i spose her tails not that not thick for her breed (1 hour to do it), we use to av welsh D stallion and he was about hand bigger than my horse, it took me about two hours to do his tail!!!!!!!

My horses mane isnt that bad cus i hogged it about a year ago so it still quite short, i've gotta do some serious pulling ova the nextx few weeks though cus its all different lenghhs and shes got a show to go to.
