Can we have a place for all those artistic members to show us their drawings etc?
No advertising, just a gallery that they can add too.
Then if members want to ask about getting one done, they can PM the artist directly saving any advertising wrong doings.
Doesnt have to be just for the professionals amongst us with pictures to sell, anyone who wants to show off their art should be able too.
It would solve a lot of the bad threads that have been going around lately.
Thanks :D

I think it's a great idea, and I for one would love to see peoples drawings and art work :)
But I don't think it will work sadly. There will always be some peoples drawings who get more attention than others, and sadly comments such as "wow, that is so good" and "aren't you talented" seem to end up upsetting others.
Unless all the artists that post can be mature about it and accept with good will and grace the praise given to others, it can't work, and will only cause a lot of bad feeling.
So, great in essence, but unworkable I feel :(

I'm another who sees too many possible problems with this. There is the classified section if people want to advertise at all - better to do that and avoid the problems with a gallery here, I think.

Images but no text would be good.
There's been enough threads lately about the subject to warrent a section like this but taking the text away would make things easier IMO.

Actually, I agree. An artist's gallery for images would be great. Perhaps if it could just be for posting images rather than comment, then that would take out the need for folk to criticise or bitch.

Text-free sounds good to me too. Maybe that would work. Bear in mind though that image-heavy threads do slow page loading times significantly and I'm not sure if a gallery would have an impact on database errors... maybe not. I'm not technical enough to know the answer to that one!

Well maybe set a limit on size - ie 50kb per pic - if someone goes over the limit, by going via photobucket or something, then they get their pic removed.
Or all pics have to be past through a mod to be put on, which will cause extra work.

or only one picture allowed?

I hope there will be a section for artistic photos too :)
Yes I think text free would be good, if people like the picture they can PM, but it would be nice to have a place for peoples equine artwork.

Maybe a limit as to how many you can put in one post or something?
Personally two at a time would be enough for me, I dont really want to trawl through an endless list!:)

I think there is a genuine need, given the recent threads.
Theres obviously a lot of talent, whether commercial or not and its nice to look through these pictures, even if you have no intention of buying one!
It would also put an end to the advertising issue where some people have been told not to advertise and others havent etc etc.
Just my humble opinion!:)

Why not photo bucket? Right now I only have a small web site with not much band width.
Any time I post a painting.. I cut the size way down and post it through photobucket.
Other wise..
I like the idea.
Never knew there was a place here you could advertise.

I don't have a problem with Photobucket - I use it all the time, but you can put huge pics on there and get them on NR thread by linking the pic direct into your post thus using up valuable space, rather than sticking to the 50mb size when you attach a pic.
That is what I am saying.

how about people post links to photobucket instead of actual pics?
can the mods disable comments in on sub-forum only? or would a mod have to lock every art thread as soon as it was posted?

Would there be away to make it so that in the art forum only the thread creator can post to their thread?

Or a seperate section like the 'members gallery' section.
There could be a link to it on either the forum or the NR main page.
Perhaps each artist gets a page, with room for 3 images and a short profile bit.
The sections could be split dependant on type - photography, oils, pencil, pastel etc.
Then people could look, find what media they would like a portrait in, browse the images and if they like one, click on it and get a couple more examples and some info about the artist (eg, prices or a link to a website).
Would that be do-able?

It is pretty easy on photobucket to cut down the pictures to itty bitty...have done it a few times.;)
