hello!

It is Tango's 6th birthday today. Does anyone have any yummy horse birthday cake recipes that i can whip up for her tea tonight. Someone ages ago told me about one that involes mix, chaff, guiness and something else, but i can't remember what.

Any good cookery tips appreciated!

bye!

Hi Sarah,
Sorry I am late for Tango's birthday but we had a really bad thunderstorm last week and my phone lines have been out until Sunday.
I picked up this recipe from Horse and Hounds which is for a Special Christmas cake.
Ingredients
1 scoop (2lb) of mix
1 scoop (8oz) of breadcrumbs
2 eggs
Half a bottle of stout (the rest for you)
A cupful of black treacle or syrup
2 grated carrots
1 apple, chopped into small cubes

Method
Pre-heat the oven to 180 C/gas mark 4.
Mix all the ingredients together.
Put the whole lot in a baking tin and pop it in the bottom of the oven for an hour.
Once it is cooked, take it out and cool it for an hour (on a wire rack)
Then decorate the top with icing, or with your horse's favourite treats, be they mints, carrots or herb treats.

Hope this works okay,
Sandra

hello!

Thanks for the recipe, does it work if you swop the mix for flour as it sounds very yummy for me to eat!

I might well whip up a cake for her this weekend. On her birthday i got Tango a slice of carrot cake. Sadly she didn't like it so i had to eat it - what a shame! I might get a bigger one next year so i can eat more cake!

bye!

hello!

Well there can't be much wrong with a cake containing beer, treacle and fruit and veg (to make it look healthy!)

I haven't tested the recipe myself but perhaps Tango can give us a taste test.

I like your philosophy here! There's maybe a flaw in it, but it sounds good to me. :)
