I am still battling to get my daughter involved in RDA (post in national championships anyone? thread) However, I decided that whist I wait to do that, I would start getting her into dressage myself. I have mentioned it to her pony club DC and RI and I think we will just go for it.

She has ridden her pony this morning, we had plenty of time, Im off work for six weeks hols and she is off school so not the usual rushed 10 min ride we get after school in term time.

The showground where our riding club hold all their events is waterlogged and everything is cancelled for the mo (which is getting me and daughter down as I want to compete my horse too! - I am sure many others are feeling the same at present accross the country) I looked on the web site of another local club and they do lead rein dressage in a rubber arena and events are ON!!!!! I could not resist downloading the test sheet and it happened to be Pony Club A test and I thought yeah right we will never manage that! We tried it this morning and whilst I was holding the lead rein and telling daughter where to steer next, Nat rode it in our school without a hitch!

I am so proud of her as a year ago she could not even do a rising trot let alone steer the pony with her reins in rising trot which she has done today! (for people wondering what the fuss is about, Nat is 5 years old and has Cerebral palsy and is very stiff down one side because of it) I cannot believe what she has done today, I was nearly in tears - we will go for LR dressage and battle our way into RDA. I have the fight in me now and am not going to let red tape deny her anything! Sorry, this dounds like Kats bragging mother page but I just had to tell someone!:)
