When Etta was in her stable tonight, she sort of stooped down and rubbed her bum against the wall right at the top of her tail.

I had a look at it but couldn't see anything, so i brushed it loads, plastered it with sudocrem (sp??) and put her fly spray on, and turned her back out in the field.

She doesn't seem too happy tho, tail constantly swishing and she keeps trotting up & down. Normally she's head down in the grass & nothing bothers her.

Could she have sweet itch?

For her to be trotting around, it looks more like she is being bothered by horse flies and is trying to get away from them, rather than sweet itch.

Could be wrong though.

I'd say she was irritated by midges. Especially if it's evening or early morning time that you turn her out / bring her in.

I suggest using mane and tail conditioner, insisting on the top of her tail (after washing it if possible) and a fly sheet with tail flap. Worked a treat for mine :)

Could she have worms? I'm not so sure horses rub if they have them or if it's just a cat/dog symptom...?

Bobbi does that, every morning half the fence posts are bent right over into the next paddock where she has bbeen itching, weird thing is she doesnt do it ever during the day, only at night:confused:

Im not sure if she has sweet itch or just likes destroying things when im not looking:rolleyes:

Well folks i don't know what it was, but someone recommended 'Conotrane' to me. (got it over the counter at Boots).

Rubbed it into her tail, and hey presto, no more itchy bum

And she's moved field as well, so no more half eaten mane!!! yippee:D
