 My quick releasers (snap shackles) quick released at the wrong time today... my youngster, bless him, simply stopped on the voice. He is a good lad! I was in a one trace on, one trace off situation.... Arrrrrrggggghhhhh!
Has anyone else had 'issues" with quick releasers?
I must add that I check them RELIGIOUSLY every time I put to. They are top quality, bees knees all singing pieces of kit. I guess I was unlucky.
The question is.... do I carry on with them or nt... some of my horses are firey things... very sharp and unforgiving!

Wally has had a u-bolt on them release while driving (I was driving behind her!), like you she had no problems with her ponies when it happened but it could have been scary.
I still use mine but like you am also hyper careful

Have you checked to see if the pin is a little sticky and perhaps the spring is not working as it should?
I've had to use a little WD40 to get the springyness back into a couple of my clips (after they hadn't been used for some time) and they have returned to full working use.

I bought them from a well known supplier of driving equipment and I clean and check them every time they are used. They are as 'pingy' as they ever were!
I am wondering if this was a freak incident or if it is a common occourance

I bought mine from the chandlers - worked out a lot less mark up than the driving websites! ;)

I got some from a Yhat chandlers, massive ones for my clydes (these are not the ones in question)
You can get them for about 6 pounds for large ones, 3 pounds for small ones on eBay if you search for 'snap shackle' in the boating section.
