What carts would you suggest for someone with a tight budget and a fat 36 inch shettie? Is the robinsons shettie one any good??? i have the small pony cart but wondered whether the robinsons was small enough. Thanks

Sasca, what sized pony do you have in your small pony one? I've vaguely looked at the Robbies carts as an option if I decide to go ahead with breaking my sec A to drive as I'd rather work with something fairly cheap to start with in case of mishaps! But I know there's been some debate on here before about how they would actually fit and balance etc given the rather odd measurements that end up in the catalogue. I think they've changed them a bit since the original versions (or at least they've put the prices up!), but just wondering how you get on with it. Robbies staff are worse than useless if you ever phone or go to the shop

We have 2 that are really good for the 36 and below crew, both were made to maesure by jobbing blacksmiths!

However if you have a bit of cash spare and want something that will hold it's value and not look out of place in any showring in the exercise cart class, Bellcrown do a really good one for Minis and Shetlands. Great driving position for the driver.
I have seen one or two Robinsons ones and they seem to go small enough, but I have not had any experience of them.

Hartland will make you what you want, I have two of their 4 wheelers , but none of their 2 wheelers so don't know what they are like. I love the 4 wheelers.

Hartland sound like they'll make pretty much anything. I'm going to see them in a few weeks about making a 2 wheeler - from what I understand they're basically made to your specification and certainly from discussions with them they seem happy to make whatever I want.

Not exactly cheap though.

Bellcrown often have second hand ones for sale, so it is worth contacting them to see what they have in.

Hartland so seem to understand the problems with an adult driver and a small pony.

Scaling a cart down is not the answer, you still need to accomodate adult legs and body.

Bellcrown paintwork is disappointing, it's not tough and a friend has a 4 year old vehicle and all the paint is off the wheels.

I got an old Bellcrown a few years ago. Ended up repainting it as it looked such a mess. It hadn't been used much but the paint was flaking off and it was starting to rust. Took me ages to paint it all, then it got nicked

Oh dear, swine that they are nicking a person's cart.

But you know what I mean about the paint, not good, and if I bought a new one I'd want a re paint for my money. The hartland paint seems to be doing okay even in our salty climate.

Sorry Zingy for the delay but havn't been on for a while due to a holiday.

My cart fits my 11.3 and 12.3 well. I really like it and even thought it may not technically be the best cart around its perfect for me to start off with and use for a while. It came flat packed and after assembling it was ready to go. It was made in china where quality control isn't fantastic however and we had a problem that the inner tube of one the tires had a teeny weeny little whole in it. I took it to a motorcycle shop and the repaired it there n then! oh and the tires needed to be topped up a bit at first after travelling. It did take a while to get here but they kept me informed.

Hope that helps
