hmm, I think that's a VERY bad mistake, getting a horse for a beginner. Also, I wouldn't get a horse that hasn't been ridden for 2 years. I really think she should get some lessons before even thinking of getting her own horse. Horses sometimes try to take advantage of riders like her.

Any breed of horse that is Hyper, is not suitable for a beginner, but especially an Arabian. Why did they choose this particular horse in the first place? Did it start off quiet and got more hyper the fitter it got, or was it like this right from the start.???
As for the fact he wasn't worked for a couple of years before hand, It really will be a matter of a highly experienced rider schooling him for a few months to regain his balance, and try and improve his temperment.
My suggestion is that they sell on the horse, to an experienced family, and try again. The parents obviously will need to rethink their horsey strategies, and be willing to pass on this horse, before something goes terribly wrong.

with the previous replies- the horse needs a more experianced rider and the rider needs a more suitable horse, or both could get hurt and / or lose valuable confidence, which (as i have personally experianced) is very hard to get back.
