This morning Sennie and I had our first solo hack since the big yard move 4 weeks ago. I'd been worried about this as the new yard is VERY quiet compared with where we were before and he'd taken a while to settle.
And it went really well, the Senmeister is a star (as if I didn't know) :D
We were fine down the scary estate road (the one three weeks ago I led him down snorting and doing airs above the ground  ), down the main village road, not too many cars at 6.30 (not daft, me) He was just lovely. He looked at everything, as he does, but behaved perfectly. When we got into the farm riding, he started to call to some horses in the distance. This made me a bit nervous. So I didn't want my nerves to cause him a problem. Next time I'll ride him through it, but today, as it was our first, we came out of the field and back towards home a different way.
We went down a little scary lane with high hedges, which he's always done very much tucked in behind my friend's horse, and onto the stubble field. We were confident enough to canter up the stubble field (fab :D ) turned left at the top, past the big house with the fascinating kid's kit (trampoline, colourful wendy house etc)and back to the yard.
We were out about 25 mins. I should also say that was the first time I have ever taken him (or any other horse for that matter) on the road on my own, so that's another thing cracked. The hacking was all off road where I had him before.
No pics, sorry. I didn't want anything else to worry about. Maybe next time. Did I say that?
He was just great. Still grinning.:D:D:D
Oh and here's a gratuitous pic of His Chubbiness chilling in his field as I haven't posted any for a while.
