hiya i am taking my friends sister in a few lead rein show classes with our pony in the last few shows this year. he has a black saddle and bridle and i am going to puta nice browband on the bridle. however his saddle is a little cub saddle (i think thats what it's called) with a little handle on it. will this affect our mark, she wont be holding on to it and it's only a local show. what does everyone think. also if anyone has any tips on dress and everything or tips in general for us to get some good marks.
it's only her first show and i'd like her to do well :D

just to add we are alos thinking of doing lead rein working hunter so any tips on that would be verymuch appreciated too

thanks

I wouldnt have thought it would affect the marking - is it a turn out or ridden?? I would expect that you'd need to keep it clean etc. Plus if its her first show I would just go and see what other people use and just encourage her to have a good time rather than going out to win.

If she's not using the handle then why do you have that saddle for her? :)

can't see it affecting the mark unless you were in a tack and turnout? even then as long as it's clean..should be alright? somebody more knowledgeable (sp) will probably chip in and correct me Lol...

well we havn't had him that long and it is the saddle that came with him. my cousin was the one that used to ride him at home and she felt safer holding on to it. the little girl who is riding him now has only been riding him a few weeks and they get on so well. we didn't think they'd be ready for a show so soon hence we havn't got a new saddle. :D

There was club saddles and a felt saddle in the LR class yesterday. Didn't affect the placings!
