One of my mares is suffering from a muscular problem in her back, behind the saddle which is causing stiffness in her hind leg which has been on and off for a month now. She was treated by a physio last week and seemed looser over the weekend but has taken a turn for the worst today and is VERY stiff on the hind leg. The physio has advised to walk her inhand for 20 mins a day and keep her turned out and if there's no change by Friday she'll come and see her again. I'm thinking of investing in one of those rugs with the magnets in them which is meant to be good for muscular aches and pains. Before I go shelling out on such a rug i'd like to know if anyone has any experiences or recommendations of them?

Hi,
I used one for a mare with a sacro-illiac problem and it made no difference whatsoever. I think if the cause of lameness is more inflammatory, then they might help but if there is more of a physical problem, like SI, then it wouldn't as that would need an osteopath to treat first.
Maybe they can be hired? The one I had was an all singing, all dancing one costing a fortune (£100's) so I don't think the ones I've seen advertised recently with only a few magnets would even match it.

Just read through the OP message again. Might seem a bit obvious, but did the vet seen your horse first before the physio?

I 'm a distributer for Bioflow, and they offer a 90 day peformance guarantee, so the rugs may cost hundreds but you can get your money back minus 15% referbishment fee, so if it dosnt work, you dont loose much
