Hi one of my saddles has met with an accident it has somehow fallen off the saddle tree and my tackroom got flooded after heavy rain last night and the saddle has gotten wet:(
I have cleaned it and rubbed it with leather balm.
Is that ok or should I do something else to prevent possible water damage?

All you can really do is to get some saddle soap on it, and maybe also oil it, it should be ok if its been left to dry naturally.

Thanks:) I have rubbed it with leather balm and it seems ok. Fingers crossed it does not stiffen up or something:eek:

I think the most important thing is to let it dry naturally. Fingers crossed it will be fine :)

How wet did it get, ? was the panel soaked, if the flocking got really wet it will dry hard and lumpy and you might need a reflock.
Don't worry too much, in the making of saddles some process require the leather to be soaked anyway. The leather in some saddle will have already been soaked before you bought it!
Let it dry as slowly as you can, leatherbalm it regularly as it dries and you should be okay.

It got soaked. The way it landed meant that the saddle flaps got the brunt of the soaking. Panel does not feel, or look wet but I will keep an eye for lumps and bump. I have let it dry out naturally. Although one of the flap is a bit bent:eek:
I suspect a feral cat was chasing mice or something and knocked the saddle off its perch:rolleyes:
I have applied some more leather balm and besides the bent flap the leather is feeling quite soft still a bit damp though.

It'll be fine, the flap will reshape itself with a bit of help. Bend it back now to the shape you want and weight it there ir tie it there somehow.
