Hey everyone!
So I've recently made the commitment to buy a Arab filly (georgeous personality!). But since the deal has been made shes had a couple nosebleeds. The previous owner is now hesitant to let me take her home and to be honest I'm a little hesitant to follow through with the deal. I don't know anything about nosebleeds in horses. Its only coming out of one nostril but its happened on at least two different occassions. The sellers are telling me its probably because she wacked her face on something but there are no marks on her. I'm really torn on wether or not to get my money back or not.
Any opinions?

Nosebleeds can be nothing or serious. My horse has had lots of nosebleeds this year and she has had 5 scopes 3 exrays and a ct scan. I was told this year that a nosebleed out of two nostrils is generally a broken blood vessil. Howver out of one nostril this can be gutteral pouch, or possible banging head. My horse had a hematoma in her sinus due to banging head. Unless you can find out the cause of the nosebleeds i would be reluctant to carry on the deal.

What they said ^
Definitely get them to get this checked out and scoped before you go ahead.

My horse only had a nosebleed in early July and then another in early August for no apparant reason.
After a scope he was found to have a PEH (progressive ethmoid haematoma) :\ Other than the nose bleeds there were no symptoms whatsoever so it's lucky we found it when we did. He was absolutely fine in himself and everything, no pain.

He got back from Oakham Vets on Thursday after a couple of nights there. They managed to inject it in hope of shrinking it and we have to go back there in a couple of weeks time to have another check up on it.

Wish us luck xxx
