I own a VSD which currently has a medium gullet in. Will be needed the cob gullets that wintec now do for the new lad. Do these fit in the wintecs saddle or would i have to buy the wintec cob saddle they do ?

I think you would need to buy the saddle... Not sure you can buy them seperate??? Think you can get up to extra wide on the standard wintec gullets though...

Thanks

Tried the extra wide on him today - another girl at the yards saddle and still not right

They sell the gullets seperate just don't want to buy them and they don't fit the saddle if you get my meaning

the saddles aren't designed to go that wide I was told when I asked about it a while ago! I think Central have a second hand wintec wide in... It certainly looked really wide when I saw it...

You can't get the purple gullets (xxwide-xxxxwide) without buying the saddle. And the wintec is built on a medium tree, so if hes an xxwide or whatever, you're going to want the wintec wide anyway.

Thanks everyone

Question came about as i saw the xxwide gullets for sale by themselves on ebay and was wondering if they would go in the old saddle.

New Saddle it is. Have been down to the local tack shop today and looks like for his first saddle either a thorowgood t6 or a wintec wide:)

When he has fully grown - we can look at a leather saddle

I found that Wintec's didn't really fit my two cobs at all - if they fitted at the front, they bounced at the back and vice versa you couldn't get them to fit at both ends.

I found that Ideal Jessica a good fit and also wide VSDs. You may find that it is better to get a second hand leather saddle as they hold their value more than the synthetics and you might get a good one for £200-300 and still have something sellable.

Black Country also fitted my cobs.

T6 would be nice! Need to save the pennies though - oh why did we get a baby with nothing? :p

We are deffo looking at the wintec cob saddle. We tried on the normal wintec saddle with a white gullet - x wide and it doesn't fit.

Was hoping the wintec cob specific saddle might be different? with the lilac gullets etc?

I'm sorry but forget it, it won't fit...I haven't come across anyone who has found one to fit their wide horse or cob. Phantom was in one of the widest gullets in the wintec wide saddle recently and it lifted at the back, and when he was slimmer in a standard wintec saddle and wide gullet it bridged and bounced at the back. The tree is too curved for flat backs, they don't comform to wide horses very well at all.

I use a treeless, only thing I have found that fits Phantom and doesn't make him buck!

Im having difficulty with my wintec at the mo-the wide is too wide for my boy it lifts at the back & the meium wide sits too high on his back.

Im hoping to invest in a Thorowgoo-the T6 is lovely but dont do my seat size :(
