my horse is in need of a new saddle again & my ri has said she has a few clients using treeless & it could be worth considering as it could help his freedom of movement

trouble is the more i read on the net the less clear it all becomes!

we are dressage orientated so i would want a saddle that looked & rode as near to a dressage saddle as possible

does anyone have the time to share the benefit of their knowledge & experience of treeless saddles with me & is it really as simple as choosing the correct seat size & it will basically fit:confused:

thanks!

Its worth having a browse around the different types available to narrow your search down, usually gulleted saddles are better for high withered horses, but it depends on what your horse prefers.

traditional looking dressage saddles are fhoenix, ansur, startrekk dressage, basically the more expensive ones

I use the Fhoenix and it puts you in a very nice position. They are on special offer at the moment too. ;)

There is also the Equinelibrium that costs £425. Also the Trekker Master but it's it the higher price range. They both have the look of your traditional saddles.

ive got the barefoot london dressage saddle on trial just now. its a much better price than some of the others:D I like it so far, am going to ride again today, but also have the gp version to try as well.

I am also interested how do you go about getting trials in them?

sorry shouldnt have said 'trial' - its not a trial as such - bit mine is from horse and harmony, and they basically do a 7day money back guarantee so long as you keep it clean and return it in the condition it came in.

There are a few people out there that do trials for a cost but if you buy the saddle then it gets deducted of the final balance. I tried for ages to find someone that would have a few treeless saddles for me to try out as I had never tried one before but no joy. I eventually went online and ordered one on trial. I was lucky as I love my Trekker. I decided that Scotland needed an agent up here so looked into it and now have saddles that I can take to people to try before deciding on what they really liked. I just wanted the same service as I would have recieved if I was looking for a treed saddle. I will be getting a few more soon. I just wanted to give people the chance to try them out before buying, that's what I would have liked.

Good on you! Wish I'd known before I got mine, had to pay for costs of shipping first saddle back to Germany before I got the one that fit

Thanks, I am just starting up but getting there. I just love my Trekker Dressage/Endurance. Both my horses love it too.

Anyone wanting an independent opinion on treeless saddles, please contact me via my website (www.bettersaddles.co.uk). A selection of good quality treeless saddles are featured on my website (under Shop and Flexible saddles) and they are all available for trial. :)
