Personally I would change to a bit like a Myler Comfort Snaffle.

I'd change the bit too, if you need brakes you can be as kind or ans harsh as you like with a Liverpool.

We have most of our lot in French Link buterfly Pelhams, you can go down the bit if needed for better brakes.

I like the butterfly pelhams to, really you can use any bit to drive with, Alougth I dont think I would fancy a Gag..not sure why lol :p!!

Kai did have a snaffle in, but he has become alot fitter and stronger recently so He now has a liverpool in so I can change to more breakage if needed! I just feel more confident myself to with this bit in.. I feel I am holding something if you get me!..

Good luck with the re training! where abouts are you!? :D

If you are driving on plain cheek, the curbchain won't come into use at all. So twist it 'til it lies flat and then do it up so it lies neatly without jangling too much. 2 fingers gap.

If you are using the bit on rough cheek or lower the chain needs to come into action when the bit shank comes back about 45 degrees from vertical. It all depends on the horse. Some won't accept a curbchain, where others will accept a strap.
