not sure what's gotten into the ponio!! hacking down the track(s! there are three ...) usually means pony ambling along, head almost dragging on the floor and dozing off ...
lately, she seems to find it all strangely exciting  head in the air, moonlighting, rubbernecking at various items in the periphery (that have been there for the past three years!), half-hearted attempts at spooking (eek! up flies the head! no! i really think we must turn round *quickly* now, that bend ... what's behind that bend?? eek!). and walking suspiciously fast for her  not scary by any stretch of the imagination, just very unlike her!
is there such a thing as spring-feeling in autumn?! i dont think there's anything physically wrong with her, as she seems rather merry ...

Is she in season?
Gem has all of a sudden turned really bouncy and looking around everywhere. Even got an excited little buck out cantering (And this is the cob who thinks lifting her feet to be picked out is hard enough work).
Soon realised she was in season after the stallion tried to jump his fence whilst we were walking back home down the drive

Maybe she's celebrating spring for all the Southern Hemispherians :p

Mine does that if she hasn't been ridden for about week things become all of a sudden very exciting and new again, she could be in season as well that can make a difference

B gets excitable at the change from winter to spring and summer to autumn.
Think they just start to feel the colder air.
B shot off up the path infront of me and spun round when I was leading him up to the yard the other day and there was nothing there!

mine are both exciteable at present. Loki may only be 12.2hh but I had trouble pulling him up out hacking Sunday.:p He was spooking at everything then got incredibly excited and we had to trot sideways for a bit before leaping forwards into an incredibly fast trot (he wanted to canter but he isn't supposed to be trotting yet) with some bucks and spins added for good measure:p
Sofi is also incredibly silly at present

Yes, there is such a thing as spring feeling in Autumn, my pair have gotten it!!! Honestly, you'd think they'd been on box rest for months, every day when they get turned out recently they've hoolied about, Storm's like a pantomime horse with her dancing around! They have been on slightly restricted turnout (Joe had mild low grade lami) but they've just got spring fever me thinks........Am looking forward (not) to trying to hack Storm out later today ---watch this space.........!

Yep, there's the slightest chill in the air and the grass is still good, my ponio is feeling quite full of himself indeed :)
He's been a donkey all summer, I think he's just starting to wake up :p

Not just Frayne then. She has only been barefoot for 3 weeks - and has been slower than usual out on hacks (which I have kept short and on grass as much as possible). However, when I last rode her on Saturday she was going very well - so decided to do a longer circuit. We found a very nice piece of smooth tarmac, and I asked her for a short trot (haven't trotted on the roads since her shoes came off) - she just flew off (as she always used to ) and she was doing her usual party trick of trying to keep up with vehicles after they had passed us :D We even had a short canter on a verge - with a 'Frayne-buck' (she tucks her nose in, rounds her back and does a little jump for joy!). We got back home and she had to be washed down because of the sweat :) Hoping to ride her later (waiting in for a delivery of our new quad bike at the moment) - and will take her up the green lane for a longer canter.
