is it ok to use this bit for dressage comps?

No - sorry not legal for dressage. The unjointed version is, but there is something in the rules that states that the part of the bit that is in the horse's mouth must be made of all the same metal or substance. If you are looking for a really mild snaffle try one of the JP snaffle family, they have curved bars to reduce the nutcracker action and are 100% legal for dressage. They do them in sweet iron as well.
