I had driving lessons a few years ago and am fortunate enough to have 3 really good driving instructors each within 30 mins of me. But I would like to get back into driving and if possible break my horse (or do as much as I can) myself. Long reinging he's fine with, brilliant with voice commands, and I've not yet found anything that he shies at on the road, (and we've seen a lot, living in the New Forest!) so could anyone recommend any good books to get me started ?
I've just looked on the BDS website and there are loads of books to choose from (some I've found cheaper on Amazon so I've brought one from there :o ) but wanted to know if anyone could recommend any extra books or even any DVD's ?
Thanks :)

See my sticky post at the top of this forum for book/dvd etc ideas - most of them are on the BDS website though so I doubt you will see anything you haven't already seen on there :)

Sally Waldron's books are all good (not sure if thats correct spelling) - I got a video that was very explanatory when I bought a job lot of driving stuff from ebay, will try to find out what its called, think I still have it somewhere

I know it may sound silly but the best thing for me getting into driving was to contact a local group and see if they needed or would mind me acting as groom a few times, it really reminded me of all I needed to do and they had some good advice about backing my girl too, within 3 months we had our own turnout to bring along :)

I agree with Shandy - get in touch with your local Driving Society and see if you can go and help out and/or act as a groom for someone for a bit. :)
That said - just got down this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sports-Driving-Complete-Guide-Trials/dp/190569301X/ref=sr_1_2/202-8776625-1527041?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1189783972&sr=1-2 and I'm very impressed with what I've read so far! :o
