its very very annoying:mad: and takes alot of patience..which i do have and at the moment im just tryin and trying with my patience..but is there any other methods i could use to try and get on when in a hurry..getting on at shows..for lessons etc..

Have plenty of time. If he moves at all, get off block and move him back again. Keep repeating. Horses hate wasting energy! (You can do this while grooming etc, if he moves a foot, make him move it back again!)
When getting on, hold only one rein. If he moves apply steady increasing pressure towards your belly button. He will probably stuff his nose in the air and circle. KEEP hold until he stops moving and has bent his head round. (If one side of the horse is stopped, the other cant go!) Again this can be started by carrot stretches and also by putting your hand on his nose and encouraging him to 'look' round to his shoulder. This 'bent round' position has a clming effect on horses too. Keep at both and you'll find a) he will stand and b) a light contact on one rein will stop him moving off. It does require patience and persistence.......keep very calm yourself will help too.
