Has anyone any experience of these? Someone at my yard is buying one, and although I tried to hint very strongly that at the price they may not be that great, they are going ahead. Simply because they are having problems fitting a treed saddle to their new mare.

Very strange as 'Jollysun' do mostly musical instruments!

JadeCity Industries which Jollysun come under are a company based in UAE.

I haven't seen their saddles but suspect that I wouldn't touch one with a very long bargepole.

This is the link to the saddle.

I had the guy from the yard ring me last night to ask if he needed to buy a special pad for it. I told him that he definitely did to get spine clearance.

But ... it is really hard to tell someone that the saddle won't be much for that price - he'll just think I'm being a snob. I tried though.

I just saw these on ebay too... I'm not overly impressed by what I'm seeing, so I'm looking around for 'reviews' - and can't find any!

TOC - I would suggest to the guy that called you to save alittle move, and invest in a Barefoot Cheyenne. They are well made, and you can get all the special pads, etc you may need, and know you getting a quality product.

when did ebay go from selling 2nd hand stuff, to being a free-for-all poor quality knock-offs?!

I have had a little chat to him and his girlfriend, and they changed their mind about this saddle. They are now looking at a couple of Barefoot Cheyenne's for sale on ebay. Pleased that they listened! :D

If she is serious about a treeless saddle, the Equine Whispers saddles are really lovely. Several people at our yard have them and they look just like normal leather saddles. I tried one on my roly poly Welsh Section D and it didn't budge, and she moved so freely in it

Ive always wondered about the quality of them.....has anyone actually used one??? They must sell a few to keep advertising on there??

OR... they have made a squillion of them so cheaply that they can afford to list on every ebay site on the planet. I looked at the photos of the under-side, and wasn't impressed. Nor was I encouraged by how the girthing is attached. Then I had a look at the other saddles they make (treed ones), and was equally as uninspired.

Do you mean the Equinelibrium saddles? I really like the look of the GP (most normal looking) and hackabout (if its as comfy as it looks....) but haven't ever seen one in the flesh as it were. Nice to hear some positive comments!

Sorry to resurrect and oldie and go slightly OT! On the ebay thing, I haven't seen so many Jollysuns lately, but there do seem to be ever increasing amounts of unbranded cheapos on there, and vendors who clearly don't have the first idea what it is they're flogging - I keep asking questions about brand and gullets/specialist pads and without exception the vendors all say there's no label/no make, that what looks like a barefoot style saddle doesn't need any pads or shimming, or they just don't give a straight answer at all.
The worrying thing is, these saddles ARE selling. :(

The first unbranded ones to hit Aussie shelves have all of a sudden started giving themselves a brand! There's one shop in particular that sells them, and having sat in one, there's no way I could recommend one. Add to the fact that you can't get different sized pommel inserts for them. They're just a knock off of the Barefoot Cheyenne saddles.

My experience of a jollysun saddle!!! I bought one a year ago. Second time I used it the pommel started coming unstitched from the rest of the saddle. I complained to the guy on ebay that I bought it from and to cut a long story short he said that it was my fault and that I couldn't have used it properly (I used it for a riding lesson!!!!) Anyway to cut a long story short. I bought the saddle using a credit card so the credit card company reimbursed me. I had the saddle repaired and it is still going. It has worn on one side and I will have to get it repaired. It has served it's purpose in as much as it was a cheap way of finding out treeless is any good. I personally think it is and have just ordered a better quality one from the alternative horse society. Would I buy a jollysun again? - NO and definitly not from the guy on ebay. I actually complained bitterly to ebay about this guy and accused him of selling something that 'wasn't fit for the purpose sold' and he stopped sellling for a while, but I notice he is back and selling under a differant name. Just beware of this guy, he would not know what customer service is it jumped up and bit him!!,

Hello

I have just joined and noticed that you are talking about this saddle. I have had one for over a year now and it is great, no it didn't cost me the earth, but it is the only saddle which fits my roly poly cob all year round and I am trying to find another one for my newly purchased cob mare and I cant get one anywhere typical

Hello. I know this is a strange place to buty a saddle from but i did. The saddle looks a little different but it is sooooooo comfy for hacking in. I don't think it would be any good for jumping in if your horse has high withers. It has a furry underside which is comfy for pony-ponies but i would say put a cotton numnah on in summer for sweat. The stirrups are western and i dont like them but thats easy fixed as there are rings for stirrup leathers.

Anyone else noticed that whenever a thread pops up about dodgy treeless saddles, 99% of the positive comments are from newbies who haven't posted on anything else....? Funny that!

My experience with ALL saddles (treed or not) is that you get what you pay for! Cheap saddles are priced that way for a reason - usually the materials or workmanship (mostly both) are cheaper than the higher priced gear. It's cheaper because it's a little less strong, consistent, and probably thinner... reading between the line for you: It's an inferior product.

Save the dosh & buy a better saddle with quality/informed reviews from reliable sources. You'll be saving a few important things: You & your horses health, safety & well being.
