rodeo pony?!

all of a sudden my horse doesn't want to leave my moms horse. i used to be able to take him out on hacks alone and he would be wonderful. now all of a sudden he backs, trys to rear, trys to buck, trys to run away with me, trying to dump me and get home to his buddy! he doesn' t do this when annabelle is with us. today i took him down and played rodeo pony for 30-40minutes and finally got him going forward, i gave him a pat and we went home. on the way home we would w/t/c doing stops than back up, turning around going away from home than going back. than when we got the the barn i walked him past it than we went home. I did have a crop with me and i used it a couple times with him (i hate using it on him because he is VERY sensitive to it a little tap he and goes flying...it does the job but than he goes right back to being a jerk).

what else can i do besides keep at it and not let him get his way. its fun playing rodeo pony for now but soon it will get annoying and i don't want a bratty horse all the time i would like to be able to hack out a lone someday again :) he used to be so good.

i have also ruled out him being physically hurt because he is FINE going toward home and doesn't seem to be lame in any way.

you need to seprate them more often and for long periods of time.
well start with short one, you did the right thing today letting him get over it, then rewarding him and going back!! a lot of people would give in!!

don't smack him he will only play up more and worry.

you need to ride out with other horses, and maybe stable him or graze him out with different horses not in the same one as your mums!!

we rode out today BOTH me and my mom and the same thing happend!even my moms horse was acting up! i didn't even have the crop with me. we managed ok we finish the whole ride than we kept riding past the barn before we went home. People have been seeing a bear down there though too. these horses (EXSPECAILLY MY MOMS, i use her in lessons she is allways so good). we have seen the bear too, he has been hanging down in there. horses are smarter than us maybe they scenced it?
